Tennis Court Resurfacing in Adelaide — questions and answers

Short answers on resurfacing a tennis court around Adelaide: what a quote covers, what the weather has to be, what the surface needs first, where the wash water goes and when a court can be played on. Every South Australian rule is a government body's own and every product statement is a manufacturer's data sheet's own, each with its read date. This site sets no prices.

Cost

How much does tennis court resurfacing cost in Adelaide?

We do not answer that with a price, because no government source we can show sets one for a court in Adelaide and a figure from a seller's page would be the seller's number. What the sources do say is that one council's resurfacing included surface removal, base repair, a new asphalt layer, acrylic layers and line marking, that another council's upgrade also removed fencing, kerbing and stormwater infrastructure, and that the data sheets page quotes two manufacturers' data sheets on curing and weather. Ask the provider for a written quote that names the layers and the data sheet. The costs page's rules check lists the South Australian lines for resurfacing a court, each with its source and the date it was read.

Does the weather matter when a court is coated?

Two manufacturers' data sheets set weather limits. The first manufacturer's data sheet says: “Application should be carried out on a day with temperatures above 10C and below 32C, and with rainfall not expected for minimum 24-36 hours to allow for curing.” The second manufacturer's data sheet says: “Do not apply in high humidity or when temperature is below 15°c or above 30°c.” This site states no Adelaide weather figure and does not say which months suit a job. Ask whoever quotes which sheet they work to.

What you can see on a court

What a court shows, and what a data sheet says about it

Each row starts from something visible on or at a court and gives what a manufacturer's data sheet says about it, in the sheet's own words and with the sheet's date. It does not say that any court has a fault.

Each row names its sheet and the date printed on it, and both sheets are older than a year on their faces. A sheet describes its own product only; neither is endorsed, compared or ranked here, and neither is said to be used by any provider. This is not an inspection and not advice: ask whoever quotes which sheet they work to.

Process

What does the surface need before it is coated?

The first manufacturer's data sheet says: “All surfaces to be coated must be clean, sound, free from contaminants including oil, mould release, dust, dirt, silicone, mud, grease, salt, efflorescence, animal droppings and any loose or flaking material”. The second manufacturer's data sheet says: “ensure all surfaces are free of oil, dirt, grease, and other contaminants. Fill any cracks and holes prior to application.” It also says: “Allow the surface to dry completely before coating.” On cracks, the first says: “Where cracking or subsidence is due to factors such as soil movement, poor sub-base preparation or poor quality concrete or bitumen, patching may not suffice. In such cases, a full engineering inspection is required.”

Where does the wash water go?

EPA South Australia says the Environment Protection (Water Quality) Policy 2015 lists pollutants that cannot be discharged to the stormwater system, including high-pressure water blasting waste and painting washwater, and that all waste water from a high-pressure cleaner should be directed to a soakage area such as the garden or lawn.

Timing

How quickly can someone get to me?

We cannot promise a time. It depends on the provider's bookings. Form and phone enquiries are passed to a local provider, who contacts you directly.

How long before a coated court can be played on?

One manufacturer's data sheet says: “A minimum of seven (7) days fine weather, and preferably up to fifteen (15) days, must be allowed for curing before using surface for sports or heavy foot traffic.” Ask whoever quotes which sheet they work to and what it says about playing time.

Permits and approvals

Does resurfacing a court need an approval?

Not established. No official page read says whether resurfacing alone does, so this site states no rule. For lights, one City of Holdfast Bay assessment panel report listed tennis court lights and posts as Code Assessed - Performance Assessed and subject to public notification. Ask your council before changing lights or fencing.

Source: City of Holdfast Bay Council Assessment Panel report 115/22, read 6 and 7 October 2026; no South Australian page read states a rule for resurfacing alone.

Service area

Which suburbs do you cover?

Adelaide and eight nearby suburbs named on South Australian council pages: Goodwood, Payneham, Colonel Light Gardens, Park Holme, Norwood, College Park, South Brighton and Modbury. Four pages are written around one council statement each: Goodwood, Payneham, Colonel Light Gardens and Park Holme. Places outside the list are not covered.

Do you resurface the courts yourselves?

No. This site is run by a marketing company, which passes each enquiry to an independent local provider. The provider inspects the court, quotes and does any work itself; we have no crews, no equipment and do not carry out the work.
